SEMIs - Week 2 Empty Bears vs Aardvarks

Post  Stumpy Fri Aug 20, 2010 2:57 pm

After making only minimal changes to the side fduring the past month, Fairy has wielded the axe despite the comprehensive win over the Bluetongues in the first semi. He's not admitting it publicly, but word around the camp is he was inspired by Daniel Anderson's work re young Mortimer.

Shane Tronc and Ryan Tandy have been dropped, sorry 'rested' after recent sub-par performances or 'being out of gas', giving Tolman his first start since round 15 and the inspirational Alan Tongue his first since 2007. Blake Ayshford's tank also appears a little low, so John Williams a run after 22 weeks in reserve grade, with Nathan Merritt to be used as an impact player from the bench. Williams and Marshall will have a kick-off this afternoon to decide who will have the goalkicking duties.

The full squad is:

FB Anthony Minichiello
W Michael Robertson
C Dane Nielson
C Joel Monaghan
W John Williams
FE Benji Marshall
HF Luke Walsh
BR Michael Luck ©
BR Andrew Ryan
BR Dean Young
FR Kade Snowden
HK Nathan Friend
FR Ben Cross
ResBK Nathan Merritt
ResBK Joel Reddy
ResFD Alan Tongue
ResFD Aiden Tolman
Kicker John Williams

The Tanks travel to Jindabyne full of confidence after there last gasp win over the Rock Gods. With Josh Millar still thinking it is 1974 and the brothers Stanley nurseing injuries, Frank has been forced to make two changes on the bench. The long lost Morris brother JOhn returns to the bench and Big Guts Rose also returns.

SEMIs - Week 2 Empty Bluetongues

Post  arfer Fri Aug 20, 2010 8:24 am

The Bluetongues have named their side for this weeks game. Isn't it strange how one week you have 25 players to choose from to make up your side and you get frustrated at the choice.......roll the clock forward three weeks and we only have 14 players ready to play (or ready to play, but our feeder clubs won't release them to play for the weekend)

O'Neill, Justin
Folau, Israel

SEMIs - Week 2 Empty SEMIs - Week 2

Aardvarks vs Bears

Twice in 3 weeks the Bears travel north to Scott Park to take on the Aardvarks - with hopefully the same result as last time as the Bears fell to a 5 point defeat in a closely fought game.

The Aardvarks after a week off should be refreshed and raring to go - but a bit of touch footy on the sand got a bit serious with our two bookends (Ben Hannant & Nick Kenny) now nursing injuries and out of the big clash. We'll be hoping one of the fillins (Warea-Hargreaves) gets over his own injuries and makes a surprise start whilst its about time Michael Henderson really put his hand up.

Our side for the clash is -;

J Nightingale
M Gordon
C Lawrence
J Sau
B Ryan
J Maloney
T Hodkinson
A Harrison
Z Taia
S Burgess
J Warea-Hargreaves
G Buttriss
M Henderson
J Moon
J Mullen
M Gillett
L Brown
M Gordon
